1 ATLAS HANOVER Wow is about the only word to sum up his first few efforts. One in coast mode, and one with a monster burst. Tons of talent here for the first foal out of a mare that banked just $79K. A nice selection for sure!
2 RIVER NESS I’m really looking forward to seeing the first crop of sire Huntsville. Here’s a fourth foal from dam that earned over $700K. The Burke Brigade paid $45K at Harrisburg and I liked what I saw at Gaitway. Was loaded late.
3 BUCKEYE EMERY Owner Frank Chick is famous for plucking out some bargains like this. Bought in Indiana for just $18K and he’s already made it to the races for Cory Mumford. Will have to go a little faster. But, maybe he can.
4 CAPTAIN COOK Barn’s got three in here, and they’re all by the Captain. They all improved in their second appearances, so you can’t ask for any more than that. Dexter just let him finish up nicely both times. Not bad!
5 DANGER ZONE Another first foal here from mare that banked $163K. Did nothing wrong in either morning trial. Couldn’t step with his barnmate the first time, but don’t hold that against him. This guy left gate both times. Usable.
6 HURRIKANE CHUCK Johnny Mac paid $21K at the Goshen sale for this fella. That’s a lot for him! Good team of owners behind the Huntsville colt. I didn’t see the Pocono qualifier, but it looks awfully good on paper. Is he this good? Trainer: Got injured and missed a few weeks last month. He is very talented, but I believe he’s a little behind it. It will be a learning experience for both of us.
7 TREACHEROUS TOM The “other” Burke colt was super in the fastest mile of the day that morning at Gaitway. But, I do ask if he’s at a slight disadvantage with just one start? That, plus the post make things a little tricky. Nice first foal.

H Horse Comment
1 LETSDOIT S A Nuncio homebred here for Team Melander. Marcus never rushes any of his babies, but this guy wasn’t bad in the first try. Any time you trot home in 27, that’s doing some work. He does lose Tetrick tonight, though.
2 KEG STAND Kind of just went around there the first time a few weeks ago. It was a pretty slow pace up front, and they sprinted home, so don’t hold it against him. There could be more in the tank tonight. Let’s see it. Dunn’s pick.
3 CHELIOS Also has the benefit of two starts under belt. At this stage, you have to consider that. Second foal from the Ackerman mare Dame Edna. First foal already has mark of 56 and change. Flashed speed on both size tracks too!
4 S I P The Burke Brigade have two talented colts in here, and Yannick did have choice of them. He took #5, who clearly went faster, so that’s no surprise. But, don’t fall asleep on this guy. He fought hard in that lone try. Showed me a little.
5 GLOBAL PANDEMIC They splurged for $120K on this guy at Harrisburg. He’s a seventh foal, but with four siblings that have earned over $100K. So, that’s nice family. Showed up super ready with a blow-by win. Looks like real deal!
6 WALL OF MONI Nice-looking homebred for the Moni Maker connections here. That was some charge home he offered in very first start, and I’m sure that’s exactly what they were looking for. Bound to improve. Tim’s choice.
7 THERESNOLIMIT S Set the pace in the race won by #6. It’s never easy to cut one out in very first go. Still trotted home in 28.1. That’s not bad! I just have a feeling we might change tactics from this post. Tough call.
8 TANGLEWILD ROAD First foal of mare that earned only $76K. So, he must have looked pretty good in the ring to command the $90,000 yearling price. Flew home at the farm, after a slightly tardy start. Can’t afford slow start here. And DD opted to #2.

1 FOXHUNT First foal of mare that earned almost $900K. Was super in both morning trials here, and I guess we can add even more points if his stablemate, Atlas won the opener. Todd M did go for #4, but they’re both pretty good.
2 LAST WITCH HUNT They’re not all first foals! Here’s a 12th offspring out of mare. She once produced A Rocknroll Dance, who earned over $2million. Won his baby race well in hand, with plenty left in tank. That’s what you want! Trainer: Great qualifier and seems like a really nice horse. Wish we would have one more qualifier under our belt, but has always done things the right way.
3 PICKUP MAN HANOVER A ninth foal here, with a pair of siblings earning over $100K. It’s nice to see Billy D with a good-looking baby. He’s not shipping here for no reason. He must really like this one. Let’s see how fast he is.
4 I DID IT MYWAY Couldn’t possibly have looked any better here last Saturday morning. And that first go was better than it looks on paper. Nice first foal, by the Captain, of course. Todd M had to choose. That was probably difficult.
5 SPREAD THE FEAR The other Mumford-trained baby went a little faster than his barnmate at Philly. This one cost a little more too! Our first look at Fear The Dragon’s, and I’ll note that he’s already been gelded. Interesting.
6 SILVERSTONE We sense the big theme tonight, as it’s a squareoff between the Burke Brigade and the Alagna Armada! Was ready to roll on first day down at Gaitway and fought nicely to polish it off late. Tough post here.
7 NAUTICAL HANOVER A third foal here. First two made it and took marks. This guy cost a lot of money at Harrisburg and I liked both preps. Got nipped by barnmate in first one. Finished up in hand to #4 the second try. Has ability.
4 Fourth Race Entries
Picks: 1-5-2-6
H Horse Comment
1 PINK GYPSY Here’s a full sister to both Amigo Volo and Reign of Honor. And, boy was she ready to roll on day one at Gaitway. Gets a little lucky here with an inside draw, and maybe main foe alongside. How good is she? We’ll see.
2 AMERICAN BEAUTY So far in the baby races, it’s been ALL Walner all the time! What a super start to his stud career. This lass offered some very quick speed in her debut and then just got caught late. A fine debut! She will get better. Trainer: Really nice filly with great pedigree. Looking forward to seeing how she develops this season.
3 MISSY TRIX Out of the same race as #2 and wasn’t quite able to trot with them late. Might need more experience.
4 JUST DO IT LUCAS A fifth foal here. Cost only $12K in Lexington. That’s more like a John Mac price. Looks to me like she did everything right over at Pocono. Will just have to learn to go a lot faster here. Maybe she can. Trainer: Just loves her work and gives 110%. She is at a disadvantage to the fillies that have gone high speed already.
5 PEYTON HANOVER Just sat patiently in her first start, but when Tim unleashed her late, she was loaded! A $400,000 Harrisburg buy looked every bit a professional. Will they let her “finish” again? Or take it right to the inside favorites?
6 THOSE BLUES Homebred third foal from mare that banked half a million! Took the conservative route in the first appearance and that’s okay. In very good hands here and I fully expect her to improve every time. Very nice pedigree. Trainer: Trotted a very good last half in her baby race. Will go forward.
7 SUNDAE FUNDAY Johnny M actually has two in here, so he’s looking to pick up some purse money! It might take this homebred filly a little while to figure things out. I will be watching closely for future evaluation. Trainer: Has a great way of traveling and is built to suit the small tracks in NY. She will just need to find her speed eventually.
8 PARDON MY LINDY Popped her pocket with an aggressive move a few weeks ago and finished willingly, although outkicked late by #5. Loses Yannick as expected. Stuck with rough post. I guess I’ll just prefer others for tonight.
9 PERFECT DESTINY Set the pace and weakened in her debut. Tried the uncovered move in the follow-up and was outfinished. Gets slammed with horrible post tonight, and she’ll get a new driver. Also needs more experience.
10 BELOW THE ZONE A sixth foal here, with two sibs earning over $200K. Acted a little “greenly” on the lead at the farm and kind of hit a wall late. She didn’t really know what she was doing. There is ability here, but more teaching needed.
5 Fifth Race Entries

H Horse Comment
1 MOON BRIDGE No real threat in the second Graduate try. This is a better post for the 4YO, so expect Joe B to use a little more speed to establish position. Will need to find a little more late to be a factor. This is a VERY tough bunch.
2 HYPNOTIC AM The lone mare put on quite a show surging past Beads a few weeks ago. That was the effort we’ve all been waiting for! Tonight, she gets to tackle the other main players in #4,7. Should be a great race to watch!
3 PLAY TRIX ON ME Quietly doing good work lately, but perhaps a wee bit overmatched at this level? Scotty Z doing a nice job of getting him into good spots. Will try to do that again tonight. For a minor share.
4 READY FOR MONI Tried to do the grind thing against a well-rated #7 last time and he just couldn’t get by come crunch time. Both horses raced great! I don’t really know how this one’s going to go, but I do see who YG chose. Trainer: Raced well last start and trained back super!
5 SERMON Like #3, same credit to Kasper F for4 picking up some checks. This gelding has a very nice kick in his bag when you only have to use him once. That’s the key. Needs a smoot trip and one big burst at the end.
6 GANGSTER HANOVER We definitely haven’t seen his best here yet this year, but it’s probably coming soon. I can’t say I’m in love with this post again. I don’t see Ake just sending him out of there yet. Have to wait for better spot.
7 IT’S ACADEMIC He’s been awesome lately! Has really developed into a super top trotter for the Burke Brigade. Plus, he digs in and just wants to fight you for it. That’s a trait that cannot be taught. Will try to control this one again.

1 MACHNHOPE It’s been a while, but I guess she finally turned in a little bit of a clunker last time. But, #4 was so well-rated up front, nobody was gaining much ground. Moves all the way inside to control her own destiny now. Usable.
2 LYONS SENTINEL Took her shot against the front-running Bell and simply could not get by! It was super race by both, in my opinion. I do wonder what Tim will plan to make things different. Right now, he likes her finishing.
3 ROCKNIFICENT She’s been a little hard to figure out so far this year. Eventually, she will come around. But, at this level, for tonight’s wagering purposes, I have to prefer others. I need to see a real good one again first.
4 RACINE BELL Was nice to see JB take the gloves off last time and just let her roll. She fought hard and sprinted home strongly to save off #2, and others. She’s now a proven commodity on all size tracks. That’s nice to have. Guns!
5 PEAKY SNEAKY Peaky has rounded into form quite nicely now. It took a while, but she’s there now. Got stuffed in behind the leaders last week, but appeared to have pace left. What’s Yannick going to do tonight? I wish I knew. Trainer: Raced much improved last start. Starting to get a little more fit and should continue to get better.
6 SNOBBYTOWN Snobby has gained my respect over her past few starts. She basically had no shot to gain in the sprint home last week. I still remember her flying finish at Philly. It’s ALL about pace and trip for her. Tough call.
7 KEEP ROCKIN A After her rousing rally in the Ross where things worked out nicely, it didn’t work out so nicely here last week. So, what do we do tonight? She’s not leaving. Will anybody soften up the speeds? I have no idea.
8 JK FIRST LADY Could be one of the “keys” to the race, or at least the early pace battle. I don’t see Dexter just grabbing up and taking back to last. That’s not going to work out well. She’s had some tough trips lately. Trainer: Hasn’t been getting ideal races for a 4YO facing older mares. She’s a good closer and hopefully she closes well tonight.
7 Seventh Race Entries

1 PIRATE HANOVER Was forced up the class ladder last time and it just didn’t work out as well. Facing some of these real killers again, but at least he’s got the pole. Just sits in and tries to keep up better.
2 ROCKYROAD HANOVER Had a couple of very nice confidence builders last few down at Philly. He needs them! Because he’s facing some top colts again in this spot. I like the inner post for him, so he can sit and stalk early. DD’s pic.
3 SOUTHWIND PETYR He’s suffered two straight real tough beats lately. Got outgamed here. Got nailed at Buffalo. Did all the dirty work too! I like this colt and I’m sure connections do too! Only needs a smoother kind of journey.
4 EMBLAZE HANOVER Looks like he’s come back pretty good this year at three. Finally finds his way to the big track where his sire did such great work. Will have to step it up a notch, but maybe he can. Plots for a nice trip here.
5 ONE EIGHT HUNDRED Probably very happy to get away from Southwind Gendry for the moment. Nancy T has raced him only in Pennsy so far, so the gloves come off tonight. IF he’s a real Med Pace type horse, he has to prove it here. Trainer: Training great! First time racing on a bigger track in a while. I’d like to see him finish well.
6 SOUTH BEACH STAR I just love this guy! The way he’s coming along under the Pelling tutelage. Just keeps getting better and better, and that makes him so dangerous. That was some sprint home here a few weeks ago. Lots of power.
7 SUMMA CUM LAUDE We’ve got some questions to answer here. Had a magnificent freshman season, but hasn’t been quite the same yet this year at three. Burke has said no more small tracks for him. Lasix on. Watch out!
8 MULLINAX Named after his late, great breeder Ed M. Mr. Up Front! Had a decent kick behind #3 up at Buff. Did a good job of chasing Elver here a while back. So, he can pace any size track too! I just hate this post for him. Tuf spot.
9 LINNYCALLEDFRANKIE Moves from pole against lesser to post nine here vs. killers. That’s a lot to ask.
10 HELLABALOU Trainer Dennis has been high on this guy, and he probably should be! Another son of Sweet Lou in here that’s gotten better at three. He IS fast enough, IF pilot can get him into the game, overcome post.

1 THEBEACHISCALLING After breaking her maiden just a month ago, she’s come a long way! It’s amazing how some fillies just blossom as they get a bit older. 0-9 at two. Already a stakes win at three. Good test for her on big track.
2 SCARLETT HANOVER One of three in here for the Burke Brigade. And they all have chances. Not sure they’re quite as good as #6, but you never know. She’s only had one start so far, so she might need a little more work to get tight.
3 MARSALA HANOVER Also doing very good work so far at three. Been battling away bravely in PA. Comes back to the big track tonight and could easily be part of the pace battle. I wouldn’t leave her off the ticket completely.
4 CONTINUALOU Perhaps the top sophomore filly from the Burke Brigade? She banked over a quarter-million last year alone. Off to great start at three, but she does lose her regular driver tonight. Loved her first two wins of year.
5 GRACE HILL This is such a tough bunch, folks. It’s hard to like them all. Dexter took it to them at the Meadows and she gave it up late. Will definitely need a softer trip somehow and I’m not even sure about that. Medium longshot.
6 TEST OF FAITH I actually voted for her as top 2YO pacing filly last year. (My apologies to Fire Start Hanover.) This lass was absolutely amazing in Lexington and Brett P turned her out after that. She’s awesome! Should get best of these.
7 BLUE DIAMOND EYES She’s no slouch either! Five wins last year at two. None yet this year, but that will change eventually. Also loses her regular driver tonight, but that’s understandable. This post won’t help matters.
8 ALWAYS B DANCING Finds herself in a pretty tough spot from an outside post. She’s also lacking experience vs. the top fillies in here. She did not race last year. Would be tough to like a lot from way out here.
9 PODIUM GIRL Barn has the bookend posts in here. This lass has a lot to prove against a field like this.

1 CAPTAIN BARBOSSA I’m still in awe of how good he’s come back this year at four. A true, professional racehorse. That last leg win a few weeks ago was eye-opening. The pole could be bit tricky here, because he likes to stalk. Best?
2 RUTHLESS HANOVER I’m certainly not giving up on him, due to one hard-fought loss. A Mac will try to “get the jump” on these again, but it probably won’t be so easy with the big and bulky field. I’m still on board, folks.
3 POSEIDON SEELSTER The very hot pace just cooked his goose last time. Probably needed the week off! We all know his game is speed, but he’s also versatile. It will not be easy to get around #2 early. Hopes to sit a softer trip tonight.
4 SANDBETWEENMYTOES Very quietly, he’s raced very well in this series. Sears had him in nice gear late last time. Should be stalking in a very good spot, IF they mix it up early. That is a possibility. Don’t be shocked like last Oct.
5 CATTLEWASH Will surely benefit from that first race of year under his belt. This is intriguing spot for the follow-up. Does Dave just send him? He’s a pure speed horse. But, he also likes to follow when possible. I wonder what price is?
6 ELVER HANOVER Elver just hasn’t had any luck in this series. Sometimes it goes what way. Also a send possibility.
7 WARRAWEE VITAL Could be the “key” to the early pace battle. In a spot like this, it’s not in Tetrick’s nature to just grab up and wait for things to happen. Too many other horses in race. No match for Capt last time. What now?
8 THE GREEK FREAK If he couldn’t beat a nw9000 field, he’s not going to beat these, right? Stuck in bad post too!
9 CHIEF MATE Even I will admit, I was a tad disappointed with him last time. Now slammed out in post nine. Pass.
10 SPLASH BROTHER Nice trip last time, but not enough kick to seriously threaten. How can he win from out here?
11 SERIOUSLY HANOVER Still trying to find out if he’s a “true stakes horse.” Jury’s still out. Sits in and saves.
12 ALLYWAG HANOVER Yes, I know just how good he’s been the last few. BUT, how does he get into the race from this second tier post? And, he gets another new driver tonight. Demand a fair price, IF you think he can get close enough.
10 Tenth Race Entries

1 GET LEGS Seems like he’s just getting used to those trotting hopples on. But, on a positive note, he did stay trotting last few. That’s big step in the right direction. This is very interesting post for him. Andy might take shot, be aggressive.
2 AMIGO VOLO No match for the mare last time, but I was very interested to see the speed again. That tells me he’s still gearing up and getting race ready. Will Dexter try to get around #1 early? Then sit behind Beads? Maybe.
3 LOVEDBYTHEMASSES Just hasn’t been a match for these upper-level trotters right now. Hoping for a trip.
4 BEADS I’m never sure which Beads is going to show up, but we’ve all seen the speed. No disgrace that he couldn’t stave off the mare last time. She was just awesome that night. Will try to control this flagfall-to-finish. Might do it. Trainer: Has raced well three times in-a-row! Trained super.
5 HILLEXOTIC Regressed into a miscue there in leg two. Not good. Still a longshot in my opinion.
6 EL IDEAL Ake took him to Pocono for a needed confidence booster. Those things sometimes work wonders. I wouldn’t be shocked to see him take a shot and send on out there. It’s hard to get much when you take back.
7 RAMONA HILL And what should we expect from last year’s Hambo-winning lass? It’s been a long road back, and possibly a bumpy one. That Gaitway effort was better than she looked earlier. This is real tough spot for comebacker.
11 Eleventh Race Entries

H Horse Comment
1 LYONS STEEL I didn’t think that was the right spot for him last time. I did like him before that and almost got lucky! This is a very important class drop for him. IF the price is right, he can be used here. Just gets a new driver now.
2 FRANCO TOTEM N 1-5, folks? Really? C’mon. I know he was “supposed” to win last week, but 1-5? Now, takes the double jump back UP in class and doesn’t even keep Todd in the seat. What a difference a week makes.
3 JOESSTAR OF MIA A Eventually, Joe’s going to need some class relief too! Hopefully, it comes sooner rather than later, because he’s still pretty sharp. They don’t stay good forever, folks.
4 BEST IN SHOW The former Med Pace champ had a “needed” first start back here, but it was several weeks ago. That worries me a little bit. Now he shows up against one of this year’s Pace favorites. Can he use that age edge? Maybe.
5 PERFECT STING Poor Joe H has been trying to find a race for Sting. No 3YO Open again, with just a couple entries, so he’s got to race here against some older foes. Probably shouldn’t matter. I’m sure they want a strong mile into him. Trainer: It’s never ideal to go in against older horses, but this is a pretty good spot for him. He needs the work! We’re not just going around there. The Pace will be here before you know it.
6 TULHURSTSANTANNA A They snuck him down to Philly on a big class drop and got paid off. Only $2.60, but oh well! It was a needed confidence builder for the horse. He has beaten top-level company here before. Price play?
7 COVERED BRIDGE I still really don’t know what to do with this guy. He’s starting to drive me crazy, like his stablemate De Los Cielos Deo. This is a big drop for him tonight. He’s supposed to take it to Sting tonight. Maybe.
8 SHAKE THAT HOUSE Like #2, he paid a wild underlay price last week. Was he really supposed to be 4-5 in there, but he won like it! Gotta give credit where due. Also hikes up. Gets a tougher post. Todd will have to get him into the race.
9 GOOD ROCKIN No doubt he needed that last one, but the move from pole to post nine is never a good one. Pass.

1 J M MANDAMIN Finds his way back up the Preferred level, but most of the others in here are jumping back up too! The pole is intriguing post, because his speed is big. It all depends on what the outside two do. Joe is aggressive.
2 ANGERS BAYAMA You finally got some money back after two straight as the beaten fave. He’s just getting rolling now and everything this barn is sending onto the track is live and strong. He will “attempt” to control this. Not easy.
3 FILIBUSTER HANOVER It was so nice to see the veteran get a deserved win at Philly last time. He’s closing in on two million, folks! Amazing body of work. Yes, he’ll be tested here, back on the big track. Let’s see if he can still hack it.
4 BRASSY HANOVER Brassy raced pretty well in first start back here. I liked that effort. Kind of sets him up for another move forward. But, he will have to do it without Tetrick tonight. This is a better group of horses. Your call, folks?
5 WES DELIGHT Takes another huge hike up the class ladder. Barn’s got two in, and maybe their other is a tad more powerful? Still, it’s always dangerous to ignore sharp horses. I’ve been burned many times by doing that.
6 BACKSTREET SHADOW We were all wondering when the Shadow would re-emerge with one of his standout efforts. Last week was it! If you believed, you got 11-1 too! Won’t be 11-1 tonight, and still has to earn it. Outer post now.
7 WESTERN JOE Joe is probably the “key” to the race. It’s up to Dexter if he wants to send him early. Overall, he’s been finishing well, and maybe that’s the plan? But, if he takes back to last, that will make the task that much tougher.

1 SPANISH ART In from PA with a good run going. But, against weaker. This is big step up. A lot to prove here.
2 IMA REAL LADYS MAN Scratches into this spot and it’s not a bad one on the drop. Had Tetrick opted here over #7, I could probably build a stronger case. He hasn’t flashed that speed in a while. Seems overdue for that.
3 DRAGON ROARS AGAIN They added Lasix in that last one at Pocono and the fast pace didn’t help. His body of work since showing up here has been pretty good. I would love to see him get a good trip one night. He can surprise.
4 ROCKIN THE ACES He’s had a real up-and-down kind of year. So many bad post. So many tough trips. Really overdue to have a few things go his way. Maybe from this slot, he can stalk along and finish well. Maybe.
5 JUSTIN CREDIBLE Justin has turned things around lately too! He’s now a very useful racehorse that earns his keep. But, is he this good? NW9000 good? I have my doubts, but you never know around here. Good luck if you fancy.
6 I’M NO PANSY Apparently bled last time, so he’s now on Lasix. This is still a pretty tough level for him, so I’ll be watching and gauging for future evaluation.
7 DEALER’S TABLE After the scratch-in of the other Cullipher horse, Tim chose this one. That’s got to be pretty telling. We’ve all seen this guy dispatch better fields than that. I just don’t expect that much betting value. Good one needed.
8 LOU’S PEARLMAN Lou is the real question mark in here. After his second qualifier, where he dominated his stablemate, I thought he might be the best 3YO coming back. Not much has gone right since. I have no idea why.
9 ATTA BOY DAN Dan leaves his favorite place, Pocono, for a while. I’m sure barn thought they would be getting softer spot than this. But, instead they get brutal post and no Tetrick. Would need huge mile to overcome.
10 SUGARTOWN They lowered the tag on Sugar this week, but in reality, this is another impossible looking spot.

1 ALLGONOWHOA Was very nice to see Peter back in the Big M winner’s circle! And he sounded pretty excited about it. His new horse set a pretty solid pace, but just kept on going. This is logical step up now, and proper pricetag.
2 IDEAL SON Tetrick had the choice to make in here and opted for Bettor over the Son. Okay. Could have gone either way. The Son is a fresh claim and was just rounding into better form. The post relief will help. He’s got big chance here.
3 BETTOR NOTBITTER A Took most of the betting action in debut for the Cullipher Crew off the claim. That trip didn’t work out, but he did race well. Gets another good post and Tim sticks, Might try some speed this week. Maybe.
4 ROCK N BLUE That did seem like an odd claim last week, on a 46-1 shot. But, Team B must think they can help this guy. That’s nature of the game. I will take a good, long look on the track and watch for improvement.
5 MCNULTY Z TAM He’s been on the comeback trail for his barn, but it’s taken some time. Finally gets to race tonight, and from an ideal midpack post. His best would give them a run, but is he primed and ready for a big one? Good ??
6 ROCKABILLY CHARM First Big M start for this one. Recent form a bit inconsistent. I guess I want to watch one.
7 DUCKIES DYNASTY The Duckie always seems to be a longshot here at M1. He will need to find a lot more.
8 BLAYDE HANOVER It would be hard to make a strong case for success in current sluggish form. Needs turnaround.
9 ROJAN’S WAY Yannick did have an option in here, and chose this one over #10. That surprised me. Am I missing something? Doesn’t seem to pack much early speed. Maybe the new barn will make some changes? Not sure.
10 TJ BLAST TJ just keeps finding ways to not win. After a while, you have to consider that. It’s yet another post 10 start, but not a lot of speed in his way. Will get involved early and then try to finish better. A big ‘ol maybe.
