No Changes in Dave Little's Road to the Meadowlands Pace Week 6

Thursday, June 10, 2021

With little activity -- only one of the Top 10 raced while two others qualified -- there were no changes in the rankings in the Week 6 edition of Dave Little's "Road to The Meadowlands Pace."

Y. Gingras, R. Burke
Burke Racing, Phillip Collura,
Knox Services, J&T Silva-
Purnel & Libby

Son of Always B Miki is moving in the right direction, according to his trainer. Burke: “I might qualify him Monday at Gaitway and that would be it [until The Pace] except for the Sire Stakes [on the 26th]. I think he’s turning the corner.”

Last Race: 5/30 – Phl – Pennsylvania Sire Stakes – 1st (1:51)

2

Abuckabett Hanover
($235,021 – 1:49.1)

A. McCarthy, T. Alagna
Crawford Farms Racing,
Alagna Racing, Jablonsky Held
Stable, Barbera N Wienick Stable

The argument could be made that the son of Betting Line has been the division’s best performer thus far in 2021 while compiling a 3-for-3 record. Alagna: “He’s doing great. We are in the process of mapping out our next start. We might race on the 26th, then go in the Pace elims. It’s a matter of how things play out. He’s eligible to The Messenger as well.”

Last Race: 5/30 – Phl – Pennsylvania Sire Stakes – 1st (1:51.1)

3

Perfect Sting
($547,061 – Q1:48.4)

D. Miller, J. Holloway
Brittany Farms,
Val D’Or Farms

sent a loud message to the division Saturday morning when the Always B Miki product qualified in an eye-popping 1:48.4 to establish a lifetime best. “I’d like to be able to race some time,” said a frustrated Holloway. “He’s going to have to go faster than 1:48.4 when he does race. The horse gets over the ground so easy. I think the 3-year-old Open at The Meadowlands will fill next week. If I could, I would race at The Meadowlands on the 19th and 26th.”

Last Race: 6/5 – M1 – Qualifier – 1st (1:48.4)

4

Exploit
($422,402 – 1:50.3)

J. Bongiorno, T. Alagna
LeBlanc and Kribbs,
Joe Sbrocco, In The Gym Partners,
Joseph Barbera

Finished a solid second Saturday to South Beach Star, a Pace non-eligible who has been killing it for Brett Pelling. Exploit, a son of Somebeachsomewhere, might only be 1-for-4 this year but his other two losses came at the hands of Nos. 1 and 2 in the Top 10. Alagna: “Our horse was very good [in his last start]. We still have an open bridle on him and when we open him up, he’ll have a little bit more focus. He is also Messenger eligible.”

Last Race: 6/5 – M1 – Winners of 4 non-winners of 8 – 2nd (1:48.1)

5

One Eight Hundred
($82,958 – 1:50.1)

T. Tetrick, N. Takter
Brixton Medical, Nancy Takter

The Somebeachsomewhere product was less than spectacular in his last start but was trip compromised. “He was too far back,” said Takter. “He’s doing well. Hopefully, he’s going to go next weekend in a race for Meadowlands Pace eligibles preferred. He is on schedule and where we want him to be.”

Last Race: 5/30 – Phl – Pennsylvania Sire Stakes – 4th (1:52)

6

Summa Cum Laude
($488,445 – 1:50.2)

D. Dunn, R. Burke
Burke Racing, Phillip Collura,
J&T Silva-Purnel & Libby,
Weaver Bruscemi

Hit the wire in a personal clocking of 1:49.2. when third to Perfect Sting Saturday morning. The son of Somebeachsomewhere impressed his driver. His trainer? Not so much. Burke: “I wasn’t as happy as Dexter [Dunn] was, I think he should have gone a little bit more. I have got to get him raced at The Meadowlands on the 19th.”

Last Race: 6/5 – M1 – Qualifier – 3rd (1:49.2)

7

Lawless Shadow
($246,439 – 1:50)

B. McClure, I. Moore
Ian Moore, R G McGroup,
Serge Savard, Frank Cannon

Unbeaten in two outings against moderate conditioned stock at Scioto, the son of Shadow Play is now back in Ontario. Moore: “he’s in to go on saturday night at Mohawk. he’s ready to roll. He trained really well Monday.”

Last Race: 5/15 – ScD – Non-winners of $8,000L4 – 1st (1:50)

8

Literl Lad Hanover
($149,783 – 1:51.1)

D. Miller, R. Burke
Burke Racing, J&T Silva-Purnel & Libby, Weaver Bruscemi,
Wingfield Five

One of three from the Burke Brigade in the Top 10. The son of Somebeachsomewhere is now in a make-or-break situation when it comes to The Pace, given how disappointed his trainer was with his last start. Burke: “I’m going to train him before I make a decision. If he’s good, he’ll do the same thing Southwind Gendry does.”

Last Race: 5/30 – Phl – Pennsylvania Sire Stakes – 5th (1:53.4)

9

Always A Miki
($342,261 – 1:50.2)

D. Dunn, N. Takter
Christina Takter, Goran Anderberg,
Herb Liverman, Rojan Stables

the son of Always B Miki’s trainer will be considering her options. Takter: “He’s going to race in an overnight at [Harrah’s Philadelphia] on Sunday. After that, I will decide if he’s going to go to The Messenger but I’m not sure the small track suits him. We’ll have to see how it plays out. I want to see him race well on Sunday first.”

Last Race: 5/30 – Phl – Pennsylvania Stallion Series – 1st (1:53.3)

10

Hellabalou
($68,886 – 1:51.1)

A. McCarthy, E. Dennis
Eric Good

Sweet Lou product could possibly go in the Pace, Adios and Hempt. Dennis: “He’s doing good. I am hoping to race next Friday at The Meadowlands.”

Last Race: 5/30 – Phl – Pennsylvania Sire Stakes – 2nd (1:51.3)
