1 STORMIN RUSTLER Didn't have an easy trip trying to grind in last Saturday's slopfest. 13YO warhorse is always a factor at this level and can certainly get the measure of this camera-shy bunch. Trainer: Horse is fit and ready for a winning trip.
2 MEAT LOAF Likes to be aggressively handled, and was in the hunt most Freehold tries. Not sure about his mile track prowess at the age of 10, but Big Red Harrison is going to give him a try. Likely to stalk #1 and will have a shot late. A big maybe.
3 ELLE'S BOY Finished the Freehold meet in sharp form, and on a winning note. That deserves attention. Had an extra week off to get ready for this, and the inside post means Pat should have him close enough. Can he deliver a knockout punch at M1? Yes.
4 TYRON MY GIGOLO Squandered a golden opportunity last week, given a perfect trip and drive. Longshot again.
5 LEMON DROP HALL Field's other 13YO usually gets his share of wins over the course of a season. Okay, but not great last week, but everybody gets a pass for the ultra-sloppy conditions. Midpack post is ideal and he is versatile. A must use all tickets.
6 WALKS OF LIFE Can you say bridesmaid? Yes, that's eight second place finishes this year, so I wouldn't dream of putting him on top. However, he is usable in the underneath slots of gimmicks. The "ol back wheel?" Still has to prove it here.
7 LIGHTNING RAIDER N Shows a couple of recent scratches. Shows being well bet twice without delivering the goods. Very mixed signals, and from an outside post, I'm going to take a pass tonight and watch. Does he belong here?
8 LIGHTNING STRIKE Just how well does a $4K Monticello claim stack up against a field of 5's here? Honestly, I don't know, but they give Scotty Z the call with Brett not here. Seems to have a turn of speed and barn has had success here. A maybe?
9 RUSTY TANK Not much upon arrival, so the Tank retains longshot status from another difficult post. Pass.
10 SARNO Found his way here and promptly broke. Not exactly "rewarded" with post 10. In for a long night.
2 Second Race Entries
Picks: 9-4-7-1
H Horse Comment
1 CARLY GIRL Took a brief shot with a first over move last week and wasn't able to sustain it. Prior effort saw her sit in, shake loose late with pace. I would imagine it's back to that strategy. Might try to protect the pole with #9 likely blasting out.
2 MAJOR SYN Picked up a check at 70-1 in the same last race as several of these. Victor Kirby gets the call tonight, from another good, inside post. Same trip likely coming. Will hope for another minor share, as I don't think she's good enough to win.
3 SO MANY FRIENDS Invades from Delaware, via Rosecroft for Torbert. He's had success here in the past. This filly has rounded into form nicely, so she deserves a shot here. Will have to prove it against the likes of stakes-quality #9, however.
4 SKY FULLA STAR Dave Miller put her in a good spot last week, but when push came to shove, she got shut off! Totally took away all her momentum and cost her any chance. It definitely showed promise and she's a factor again. Likely firing out.
5 OSPREY BLUE CHIP Aggressively handled by Tim last week and she got a little tired late. With Tim not here, Andy takes over and I love him first time on a horse. I always respect dangerous speed. Needs easier trip tonight and should get it.
6 HAIL DAMAGE BLUES Off the long layoff and showing two fair qualifiers. I suspect she'll need a race or two before best.
7 UNDER THE BUS Scooted up to Tioga for a late-closer start and performed well. It was a fast mile too! Had a needed race here before that, it didn't set up for her. Yannick takes over w/ Tim not here. Trainer: Came first up at Tioga last week. Trip type of horse.
8 ROCKINSANGRIA A little hard to drive last time and she didn't exactly fire her best shot. With no potential early speed in her tank, she figures to get away last and that's not going to work. A pass from the outer post.
9 SHE'S WATCHING Looked awfully good in that qualifier and finds a very soft spot to start her sophomore campaign. The sis to Med Pace champ He's Watching will be very hard to beat, even from this post. Trainer: Two very good qua to start season. Poor draw, but ready to give a good account of herself.
3 Third Race Entries
Picks: 3-5-1-9
H Horse Comment
1 TOSSIES FLASH Parlayed a nice trip into a decent second, outracing his odds by a lot! Moves all the way inside for Tom M. and will be firing out again. Any similar trip gives him a chance to get a big check again. Usable underneath in gimmicks.
2 DEBT OF HONOR Hard to make a strong case for any success here, based on recent form. Needs big turnaround.
3 HONEYS DRAGON Put on a solid display of speed in the slop last week and then came to a stop! Jim Marshall takes over tonight and I envision a different strategy from the better post. Might save that burst for the end and that would work out well.
4 PERFECT TERROR Like #2, I would have a tough time endorsing, based on current form. Not for me at this time.
5 SIZZ MATTY Another that did well upon arrival, outperforming his 27-1 odds. Lands an ideal midpack post for Joe B and will be part of the outer flow. There is enough speed in here to set things up for a closer. Don't expect 27-1 tonight, however!
6 ROYCE BLUE CHIP 0-11 down at Freehold. Recent form isn't exactly awe-inspiring. Doesn't possess much early zip. Not for me.
7 FLY'N WITH ROYALTY What happened at Philly? That line looks like a disaster. The prior effort at Freehold would put him in the hunt here, but I'm really worried about mile track stamina right now. Yannick will try the gelding tonight and that always helps.
8 BOLDER Picked off a couple of tired ones near the end of Saturday's finale. That field might have been a tad weaker than this one. Not exactly loaded with early speed, so he's at mercy of pace and trip again. Not quite my type from out here.
9 TWIN B SCANDAL Yes, that's an 0-37 record over past two years that we're staring at, but that's also a sharp-looking qualifier down at Philly after a month off. I didn't see it, so I can only guess. Claimed in March. Figured him out? Trainer: Qualified okay.
10 WILD SHOT HANOVER It's almost not fair when you get slammed with post 10 in two straight races. This guy went the long mile for Andy last week, so he'll try to get the gelding a softer journey. Barn still hasn't had starter hit the board here.
4 Fourth Race Entries
Picks: 7-4-5-3
H Horse Comment
1 ART SCENE Offered up a much improved second qualifier where he zipped around the track in well-rated fashion. The prior breaks concern me, so I wouldn't be willing to take too short a price. Trainer: Back on track in 2nd qua. Draws rail, looking to build confidence against more seasoned starters.
2 SEA ROVER Slow coming to hand so far as a three-year-old. Have to pass in a spot like this against faster foes.
3 HALLIE'S COMET Took a brief run at the leaders last week in the slop and hung pretty badly. That wasn't exactly an awe-inspiring effort, where his prior mile was much better. Maybe it was the off track? Trainer: Had good week, expecting good effort.
4 BRIAN J Didn't make it to the races at two, but he's sure come back strong so far this year! Steadily improving efforts and the win at Tioga was visually impressive. Have to think he's ready for this kind of test and Campbell will sub for Tetrick not here.
5 ROCK N BLUE Did a nice job winning that race two back at Philly. I know it was a slow final half, but he still dug in to earn it. Didn't make it around the half at Yonkers, but that's understandable. This is where he belongs. Only needs to go faster.
6 POP'S ROMEO Showed absolutely nothing on debut here, but he probably needed that race. I'll still pass for now.
7 SAMS TRIPLE CROWN Proved he belongs here with a very solid effort last week. In fact, if he got through sooner, he might have won! It took a monster mile by the fave to get past. I now have respect for Sam and will definitely use tonight.
8 MAC ATTACK Homebred gelding is taking a little while to get back to full strength. That's okay. Sometimes it does, and barn is always good with types like this. Tonight's problem is the post, with lots of other speeds. Must find a lot more stamina.
9 STRAIGHOUTACONSIN Was pounded down to even money on Tuesday at Plainridge and couldn't track down well-rated leaders. If he lacks early zip, as it appears here, he might get away last. I doubt he can sweep the whole field here.
10 ONE TOUGH NUT Seems to have his problems staying onstride, so I imagine Swick has waited for chance to get back on the big track. Jim Marshall will likely be careful with him, just to get him acclimated to Club Med. Watch closely for later on.
5 Fifth Race Entries
Picks: 2-9-3-5
H Horse Comment
1 DANCIN HILL Really in need of a class drop like this, and barn has surprised us with this type before. This is no easy spot, however, but Yannick opted here in a surprising choice. I wouldn't be shocked by wakeup call improvement. It is possible.
2 ALEXIE MATTOSIE As I suspected, the veteran bounced back with a much better effort last week. Draws a key, inside post and certainly fits with this bunch. Very hard to leave off your tickets, JC's choice Trainer: Had a good week leading up to tonight.
3 DONAU Worked his way up the class ladder when last seen here in April. Ran into some tough spots from bad posts in New York. I can forgive that. Seems versatile enough to do it either way, so it's all about pace and trip. If price right, very usable.
4 BABY KITTY Not sure what to make of Kitty right now. A tad inconsistent, but Andy hops aboard and has been known to "make speed." Very mixed signals, and I'm not sure the price will be that big. Demand value if you fancy.
5 STARZNHEAVEN Down from New York for a Club Med visit for Derue. Also showing a bit inconsistent recent form, but I'll note he took his mark here last year, so that shows ability. Packs a good burst from the gate. Might as well use it, take a shot!
6 WEGOTTATRUCKYEA Knee spreaders went on for the slop last week and he fought a good fight, despite the tough trip. Tonight's problem is the force up in class. He gets in via the secondary condition. These are a bit tougher, and JC opted to #2.
7 GOOD DAY MATE Enjoyed a nice roll there at Freehold towards the end. Tackling good field here. Is he ready for it?
8 CENOVIS No idea what to make of that Philly qualifier, since I didn't see it. Could have been okay, or maybe he was flat. The freshening likely did him some good and a few of those Dover races are good enough to win this. Must stay pacing here.
9 PREPARTY Gave Mr. Brightside a good fight last week and that race stands out. No doubt Tyler will be firing out for position and any trip like that again gives him prime chances to win. Consistent. Would be very hard to leave out of this.
10 QUICK ASA TRICK N Tough to get a full gauge on this gelding from another outside post. Pat LaChance gets the call in wide open race and gelding has enough speed to get involved early, but may face pressure from #9. Your call?
6 Sixth Race Entries
Picks: 6-3-4-8
H Horse Comment
1 ALBERTO CONTADOR N Faced similar when seen here last month. Can't say much for the Yonkers race, other than he was simply overmatched. The rail is always an inviting prospect. Can sit, save ground, try to get lucky late.
2 ONTARIO SUCCESS What a different a year makes! 14 wins last year and only one so far this year, with a lot of seconds. Took a month off and requalified willingly. But, against a field like this, I have to rate him a longshot. These may be too tough.
3 DEALT A WINNER Flaunted his back class with a smashing seasonal debut for Dave Miller. If anything, he should be even stronger tonight, but he does face a much tougher bunch. With that said, the price won't be big. Andy subs for Dave tonight.
4 MCWICKED One of three millionaires in this field! Was good enough to make the Levy final and then paid the price for suicidal pace up front. Little bit of a clunker over at Pocono, I suspect we'll see him on lead tonight. Trainer: Nice horse, trained well. Hoping for good effort tonight.
5 BETTOR MEMORIES Honest 4YO does good work when he's in the right spot, but this may not be it. Hard to ask him to challenge three millionaires, when he's faced mostly lesser company. We'll see if he belongs. Will have to prove it first.
6 CLEAR VISION Did some good work in the Levy series, winning the $100K consolation with a grinding rally. He's had some good nights here before too! Had to "need" the Tioga race and just might offer some better betting value than #8. Yes, if price is right!
7 NATIONAL SEELSTER Up and down the class ladder recently at Yonkers and of course, we can excuse last start from post eight. Not sure what the plan will be from post seven, but the 5YO is versatile and can go either way. Not completely out of it.
8 CHRISTEN ME N Arrives in New Jersey with a BIG reputation and almost $2 million in the bank. I will caution, however, that he caused a recall down at Philly, before coming back and overpowering them late. Tough post. Short price. Maybe try against?
7 Seventh Race Entries

H Horse Comment
1 JJ FLYNN Towed along willingly behind a top pacer in the qualifier, but can he really be ready off almost six months? No.
2 LYONS SNYDER Because the track was sloppy last week, he avoids the "steward's list" for two straight breaks. BUT, what do we do with him tonight? I honestly don't know what to expect. Hard to leave out. Hard to rely upon. Trainer: He got a little too excited out of the gate last week. Start before that had broken equipment. He is in great if he behaves at start. He can go with these.
3 JK WILL POWER Been racing very well of late, but now forced up the class ladder. I still wouldn't be shocked if he snuck into the gimmicks at a very nice price here. The post is ideal and he likes to grind. Don't completely leave out.
4 CITY HALL Well-traveled gelding usually shows up and delivers a quality effort. I suspect the price will be big, in this wide open and impossible race to handicap. Any kind of smooth trip and live cover give him chance to deliver a kick. A value play?
5 ELRAMA N Can't really fault him of late, but he's one of many that will hope for the flow to be live. Owns one big move.
6 IAMMRBRIGHTSIDE N Couldn't possibly have been any more impressive in either win. Definitely the "real deal" for Al and Corey, and proved he could do it on the lead just as well. Facing a much better group now, but just might be up to the task!
7 BETTOR'S EDGE Shows very nasty and unexpected breaks in two of last three races. There really was no reason for it at 3/4 pole last week. Scotty Z takes over tonight and is liable to just be careful with him here. Not sure what to expect. Hoping for flat mile.
8 ROCKEYED OPTIMIST Wow, was he ready off the bench or what! Andy put a perfect trip and drive on him, but it still took awesome kick to sweep on by. Like #6, he's forced back up the class ladder and the post won't help. How does he get into it?
9 DOCTOR BUTCH Couldn't possibly have gone a bigger mile last week! A real top notch effort and it took one last lunge by the classy Dealt A Winner to nail him on the wire. John sent him out of there then, and I feel he'll have to now. Can't leave out of this.
10 WAKIZASHI HANOVER Hasn't really shown any early speed in a while down at home base. I don't imagine the plan is to blast him out against a field like this, so I'm going to pass tonight, and wait for a softer spot somewhere down the line.

1 WORKANDPLAYHARD Scratched from post 10 in last week's slopfest, so that's a minor issue. The move back inside certainly gives him a much better spot and Yannick takes the call, with Brett not back yet. I can make a case for this guy, even at 0-15 this yr.
2 AMPED UP Brett certainly gave him a shot with that speed in the slop. Unfortunately, there wasn't much stamina on view. If barn's earlier starter did well, then I might give an extra look. Scotty Z will likely try to save something for the stretch.
3 BUCKEYEINCHARGE Retains longshot status, with that 1-40 record over two years. I don't see him beating these.
4 UF FAST FEELIN If you just throw out that last race in the slop, you get a legitimate contender here. It's a much better post. He packs one versatile move and if timed right, could easily win this. Trainer: Always good in this class. Gave a week to freshen up.
5 TO BEACH HIS OWN Finally gets away from Camturo Beach, which will help. Did a fairly good job of chasing that one, and keeping up. Andy is the perfect fit for gelding with a lot of speed. Only needs to work things out with #2 early. Can happen.
6 TWINCREEKS JACK There were four claims in on Jack last week and Patti took him home after an easy, romping win. He figured to beat those and now faces a little bigger test here. Drew outside two other speed types, so trip will be important. Needs very best.
7 ISE THE BY BOY It's nice when you pick up a check from post nine at 47-1. Credit Dave for the ground-saving drive. Joe B takes over tonight and will see the 10YO does have early speed if wanted, but there is plenty of other speed in here. Tough post again.
8 CHEROKEE RANGER I guess if you want a closer in field filled with speeds, then this is your guy! I can't guarantee he'll be close enough to deliver a knockout punch, but he will be passing several of them late in first start for new connections off claim.
9 DAYLYN HORIZON Not a real quick starter either! Likely to be last when they spring the gate and you all know how I feel about that. 1-15 this year. If he beats me, he beats me. I can live with that.

1 SO TAKE THAT A little bit flat last week in the slop. Didn't like the "good" track week before that. It's supposed to be dry on Saturday night, so that immediately improves his chances. The nice, inside post helps too. Usable as a live longshot.
2 DURANT Corey had a choice in here and opted for this guy over #7. Racking up the miles recently, traveling all over to race. Last effort was significant improvement despite broken equipment. But, this is likely a better field. Demand fair value if you like.
3 MISTER TRUTH Did a fairly good job of towing along behind heavily-favored War last week. Made that foe work to hold on for the win. Forced up in class here and Yannick did have option and took #4. Trainer: Improved efft last week Should advance. Good wk.
4 LAST DRAGON Dropped and popped against a much weaker bunch in last week's slop. First win of season. But, Yannick sees fit to choose him here, and sometimes confidence builders work wonders. Trainer: Easy win in lower class. Good post tonight and driver he loves. Starting to settle into my barn nicely.
5 ALWAYS A DIAMOND Seems to have tailed off a touch over past month, and last week's try here was nothing to write home about. This is major post relief however, and a good chance for Kirby to get him a trip. In need of wakeup call.
6 PLAY THE FIELD Scotty put this fella in good position last week, but the gelding didn't have much stretch punch. Moves to a tougher post tonight and I think he'll try and grind from behind tonight. Can he find that kick from April 29? Good question.
7 STEADY PULSE Things set up for a closer in last week's finale and he charged home. Andy was listed and opted off. Pass.
8 STRATOCASTER Last race at this level really wasn't bad. Been overmatched in three starts since. Tonight's problem is the post, plus Zeron was listed and opted to #6. Is that telling us something? Must not have liked last effort. Your call from post eight?
9 MILLENIUM WHEEL I'll admit I really liked this guy last week and he just ran into the bearcat that is Mr. Brightside. Needless to say, this is a huge plunge in class and no excuses will be accepted, even from post nine. Must get the job done!
10 WAR-N-MUNN Yes, he dropped and popped as expected last week. But, with that said, he looked a little tired late and was drifting out. Both slightly negative signs. Not exactly "rewarded" with this post, but he does possess more early zip than #9.
10 Tenth Race Entries
Picks: 7-1-2-4

1 DAYSON Threw in a "clunker" last week, not offering much fight when challenged by the mare. That's just not like him. Since he's right back in the box here, I will expect an improved effort. Has big post, speed edge on several of these. Bounces back?
2 TIGHT LINES The "pride" of the Gregory stable is just as honest as they come. I'll go just short of calling him a "small track specialist" but this is no easy task on the mile. I love the post and potential for smooth trip. Let's see if he's fast enough here.
3 WAITLIFTER K Returns to New Jersey from the Meadows and Ohio. He does have experience here. Overmatched?
4 TACO TUESDAY Nice to see Jason B paying the bridge toll to drive the Taco tonight! This horse has darted right up the ladder with some strong and impressive miles at Yonkers. I will point out that he's won here before. The ultimate test for class tonight.
5 LEGGS MATTER 4YO has a lot to prove against a field like this, and I'm going to take the pass and see approach tonight.
6 DOUBLE L LINDY Stakes-quality 3YO from last year won five times. Started his season with a romp over at Yonkers. This is the next step for Lindy, but he'll have to go a whole lot faster than that YR win, and qualifier before that. Is he ready? Not so sure.
7 BROADWAY DONNA Boy was I wrong about her readiness last week! Couldn't possibly have gone a bigger mile. I mean a "wow" kind of effort. Put away #1 like he was tied to the pylons. Trainer: Very happy with her last. It's always going to be tougher for the mares against the colts, but she is very classy.
8 SOUTHERN CROSS Second start off the layoff, and first one at Freehold wasn't enough. Stuck in bad post. Not tonight.
9 DUPREE Flashed good speed couple of weeks ago, but not the needed stamina. Facing a top notch field here. Too tough.
10 CUFFLINK HANOVER Made over $340K last year at three. That's a successful season! Won five times too! Shows two easy, cruising qualifiers and I feel he's ready, but stuck in worst post. It will be up to Andy to try to get him some kind of decent trip.
11 Eleventh Race Entries

H Horse Comment
1 RIDGEWAY SPRINGS 0-11 this year, but finds his way over from Yonkers, gets the rail and Dave Miller should be back to drive. Is the horse ready to trot in 55 or 54? That's the part I can't guarantee. Needs to go a lot faster here, so demand square price.
2 WINWOOD SCOUT Was all out to win the Billings last time and now forced way up in class. Best weapon is speed, so look for a solid start and then possibly a tow-along trip. He'll probably keep up well enough. Possible minor share.
3 MONTALBANO B Wasn't able to take advantage of the class drop over last two races. Keep in mind that he hasn't raced since April 28. That gives me serious pause, especially since he's facing a better field here. Would need big wakeup call to win.
4 BILL'S MAN Was absolutely flying at the end of the mile last week. The perfect prep and probably exactly what the connections wanted for first start out of the box. This looks like a nice, cozy spot for the talented Hambo hopeful. Trainer: Very pleased with his effort. Trained back slow trip and seemed fine. In against aged horses, will have to see how he stacks up. Should be charging late if things are like last week. Still trying to find his speed without a miscue.
5 DON DORADO Was well-meant last week, but all out, life and death to grind out the win. With that said, he's facing a much better bunch tonight and would have to find some of that old, back class to threaten. A longshot to me tonight.
6 MOONLIGHT COCKTAIL Took a couple of months off and requalified well. Now, it's a matter of working his way down in class to the proper spot, and this is it, with the exception of #4. Four wins from only nine starts this year. Gets the jump on Bill? Maybe.
7 O U SEXY GUY Worked his way right up the class ladder at Yonkers. I like the idea of trying M1 again. Won earlier this winter, but tonight's problem will be the post. Very good chance he gets away last. Needs a lot of help to sweep them all.
8 LAUDERDALE Ya just never know what you're going to get from this "enigma" of a trotter. Tons of back class, and talent, but also the many, many miscues. He "squeezes" in for the condition. If he clears the front, his upset chances go WAY up.

1 TOP OFFICIAL Wiped out upon arrival, so forgive that. Still has something to prove here, so I will pass again.
2 VICTORYDAZE WILWIN Thought he was in a great spot to have chance to win last week, and he promptly broke! Oh well. Same spot here, from better post on dry track. Have to give him another chance, hopefully at a better price. Your call?
3 BIG BAMBU Brett Miller should be back in time to drive this veteran and I think he's well-meant in this spot. That's a big class drop and he does pack useful speed from an ideal inside post. I can very easily make a case for the wakeup call win.
4 VICTORY AT LAST Owns a couple of wins this year, which few of these can say. Gets the tepid call as fave, with Dave back in the bike. Certainly has the speed to be forwardly placed. Any smooth trip gives big chance, but likely at short value. Back class counts.
5 HUXLEY Sports a 1-17 record this year on arrival from Freehold. Taking a shot on the mile, but not sure he's good enough.
6 RELENTLESS DREAMER Here's another logical contender for JC. Enjoyed a nice, inside trip chasing the winner last time and finished well enough to warrant the extra look here. The knock is the post. Can JC find a way to leave with him? Not so sure.
7 PRANA One of the speed players got parked out upon arrival. The conditions tonight will be a little different and the post is a touch better. No doubt he's firing out and this time, he should make the front. If he does, his chances go way up. Usable.
8 MR JULIAN Has the great misfortune of drawing outside the main speeds, so that's going to hurt. If he does fire out, might search for a first turn seat. If one becomes available, his check chances go up. A big maybe, from the bad post.
9 OPENING NIGHT GEM Not exactly "lighting them up" down at Philly. Stuck in very bad post with little chance to leave. I suspect he's clearly up against it from out here. Would have to pass them all.
10 RING WARRIOR Squandered a great opportunity and trip last week. Stalked the front-running winner in perfect pocket and simply got tired. For that effort, he's now slammed with post 10 in field full of speedballs. I doubt that's going to work out well.
